I really like wella hair color but if that's too expensive the revlon colorist auburns are really nice and feria has a nice line of reds too. I've been coloring my hair red for a very long time. John Freida has a nice not too expensive line of shampoo and conditioners just for red hair and sometimes I take my favorite conditioner and add a tiny bit of special effects red hair dye to it and use it as a color glaze every so often to keep my color maintained. I find the best way to keep red in is to put on a bit of mousse with sun screen on my hair before going out in the sun to protect the color and try not washing it everyday. If the John Freida shampoo and conditioner isn't for you at least use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair that will keep the color in. I hope I helped. Also, if your hair is dark make sure you lighten it a bit first so that the color holds better. Avoid doing this yourself at all costs because it can damage your hair a lot but if you must I reccomend going to a beauty store and getting a proffesional lightener or bleach there. Good luck. (:Does anybody know of a red hair dye (salon or drugstore brand) that does not fade quickly?
Nope, I've been seaching for one for a long time. Red is hardest color to keep.Does anybody know of a red hair dye (salon or drugstore brand) that does not fade quickly?
Red is the most difficult color to keep in your hair. It fades really easy and the upkeep is expensive and time consuming.
You can go to the beauty supply store and try to find some Manic Panic color or something extreme like that and maybe that will help, but from experience, the red doesn't stay!

What would happen if i put bright red hair dye on copper hair?

It will probably look exactly like whats on the box. But keep in mind that your roots will not be the same color when you touch them up with this dye since that is virgin hair (undyed) and wont be as vibrant.

Yes, they usually carry every color.Do salons usually carry red hair dye?
Yes. When you're talking to the stylist explain that you DON'T want orange. You want a true red or a cool red. RED,RED,RED, fire engine red is pretty clear too. :-) Good luck
I bet they'll do it for you. The next time you're near a salon, you should check. I think they'll die it for you though.
Good for you.........Reds Rule!!!!!!!!

Will Garnier Nutrisse Blonde pre-lightener lift red hair dye?
I have dyed red hair and previously had very blonde hair (also dyed) which i prefer being and so want to remove the red and re-dye blonde, I can't afford a salon. Will Garnier Nutrisse Blonde pre-lightener lift red hair dye?
don't use a pre-lightener (which is just a bleach kit with a fancy title) to get dye out of hair - bleach is intended for use on natural hair, not dyed.
yes you can get Goldwell system hair colour remover here: http://www.salonsdirect.com/PD_51339.asp鈥?/a> or at Sallys

If I put blonde hair dye on dark red hair dye, what will happen?
The dark red dye has faded, and is a brownish-light-red now. I put in an ashy blonde and I know it probably won't look that good. My natural color is dark brown.
So...what will it look, or rather: How bad will it look? xDIf I put blonde hair dye on dark red hair dye, what will happen?
go to a cosmetologist and get a professional to change your hair color if not you will regret it!If I put blonde hair dye on dark red hair dye, what will happen?
Nothing will happen, the number one rule of hair color is ';you can't life color with color.'; But if you got box color from the store you have bought a product that will bleach. The ash will tone out the red, so depending on the shades of your hair and the color it could be a nice blonde/light brown. Again, I can't really tell you without looking at the actual colors, but it may not turn out badly.
By definition, to ';dye'; means to make darker, by adding artificial colour pigments. How can you make brownish light red lighter by adding more colour pigments to it?? Think first.
The only time this will work is when this ';dye'; is used on white hair. We all know that all permanent tints contain bleach in them. That is the only way they can work.
If you want corrective colour work done, you need to go to a professional hair colourist and have it done properly. You can of course experiment with a variety of box colours until you find what you want, or until the hair gives up, whichever comes first.
When you don't know what you are doing, don't try. Good rule to follow for everything.
The blonde will probably either not show up in your hair or will make it discolored. You will probably need to wash or bleach out the old dye and your natural hair color for the blonde dye to show through correctly
it will probably turn orange because the products in the blonde box hair dye isn't strong enough to go lighter by so many levels
u will turn into an aminal...Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... i think ur on crack... bt i love u!!necklace

Is there a red hair dye that doesn't fade?
Every time I dye my hair red the orange tone washes out after about 2 weeks and it just ends up brown. Is there a red hair dye that doesn't fade?
Oh oh oh!!! i know the answer....
I have search every professional color line I can think of to find one where the reds dont fade. It's Keune color from France. I even put intense reds in my clients' hair and 6 weeks later they are still intense. I love my Keune color line. You will be very happy with the results. Is there a red hair dye that doesn't fade?
Sorry, but red fades faster than any other color. What you can do is have your stylist put your hair in a plastic cap while the color processes. With some colors you can't go under the dryer, but if you are using one that can, than that will help it to last longer as well (put on a plastic cap before going under the dryer), just make sure you have a 5 min cool down time after going under the dryer. If you're using an over the counter color, you may want to go into a salon, professional colors work a lot better. And using professional shampoo %26amp; conditioner for color treated hair will help as well.
I just dyed my hair (red) for the second time with Nice'n easy permanent hair dye
not only does the colour stay, but that nice shine from dying the hair lasts too
by the way, after you've dyed it make sure you use a colour protect shampoo and conditioner
well red dyes are the fastest fading color...because there color molecules are the biggest and dont penetrate deeply into the cuticle..there is things u can use to help save ur color...wash your hair in luke warm showers, use a color protectint, tinted shampoos and conditionors for ur hair...but try goldwell or redken hair color..they have very good lasting color.
thanks mindy, i have never heard of that line...i will have to try it out on my hair,,cus i love red hair on me..
at hot topic they have die that stays in 4 like 5-7 days and then one that stays in 4 2-3 weeks and another that stays in 4 like 4-5 months they work on come in red blue green yellow pink and colors like that!!!!
hopes this helps
^o^ XoXOXOXOXOXO
It's called natural ';rage'; or righteous indignation!!!
I don't think there is. Even if you get it done professionally, it will still fade faster then other colors.
Did you use a color protection shampoo?
go to a Professional they have better dyes

Can someone recommend a good vivid red hair dye?
Something like in the following two pictures:

Demi permanent would be a plus, but permanent is alright too. :) Thanks in advance. Can someone recommend a good vivid red hair dye?
The absolute BEST brand of bright hair dyes is ChromaSilk Vivids. These totally unique semi-permanent dyes are made using keratin amino acids- so they actually create artificial pigment cells, instead of just sitting on top of your hair. Technically its a salon-only brand, but its worth doing some digging to get your hands on it. Try talking to people at your local hair salon or cosmetology school, asking any friends who are in school for doing hair, or possibly Ebay. The color is so vibrant, and it doesn't fade out the moment you get it wet. It only takes 15 minutes, its a 1-step dye, and if you decide to bleach it to change your color, it comes out as easily as natural pigment. I used dark purple in this dye, and when I put bleach on it, it lightened to platinum in 3 minutes.
