I've heard over and over again that red hair dyes tend to fade quicker than any other color. I'm getting my hair dyed red next week; the hair dye is PERMANENT not semi-permanent. Does permanent red really fade as easily?Does PERMANENT red hair dye fade as easily as semi-permanent hair dye?
permanent dye always lasts longer than semi-permanent, no doubt, but red will fade quicker than the other colors. since you're getting your hair bleached as well, the color should be more prominent and resistant. bleach opens up the pores in your hair cells and allows maximum absorption of the dye. be warned however that bleach is pretty damaging and you'll have to do some heavy duty conditioning after wards. depending on what kind of red your dye is, it will fade into a lighter color. I've dyed my hair red after bleaching many times and it usually faded to pink/orange. some tips!
- wash your hair in lukewarm to cold water. this minimizes dye being washed out.
- condition like crazy. buy the kind specifically made for dyed hair.
- don't wash your for 24 hours before the bleaching/dying. remnants of shampoo may interfere with the absorption.
- if you can, take protein pills to strengthen your hair. that way it might be less brittle. but this varies with the individual.
- the reason why red fades fastest is because of the sun's rays. if you can, avoid direct sunlight as much as possible.
good luck and happy coloring!Does PERMANENT red hair dye fade as easily as semi-permanent hair dye?
Usually not, because it is permanent, but if your are bleaching your hair blonde, then it probably won't fade. But I wouldn't advise too much dying, and bleaching your hair. It will thin, and become weak, and if you continue it may fall out. So don't use the dyes/bleaches TOO much.
all i know is that anyone that dies their hair red, or attempts..... it usually has a pinkish tent to it after a few weeks or so!
any kind of red does fade pretty quickly try using a color safe shampoo or try one of those just for red kind of shampoos
Yes, it does. It just means it isn't as likely to wash out. UV rays will still cause it to fade quicker than brown or black. Blonde obviously doesn't fade, it just gets lighter.
The best thing you can do is keep a hat on when you're out, or stay out of the sun. If you're a sun person, it's gonna fade. Try a 'for colored hair' shampoo and conditioner, like L'oreal color Vive. It worked for me. They also have other color-specific shampoo and conditioner things out, that either add a little color each time you wash or add UV protection each time you wash.
If you wash your hair everyday it'll fade. Especially if you use cheap shampoo. Nothing is ever permanent
