Does anyone know how to stop red hair dye from fading so fast?

Red hair dye fades so fast...how can I slow down that process? Is there a special shampoo to use? I have tried different brands that made stuff for red hair but they don't work. Someone please help...there has to be a trick that doesn't involve me not washing my hair or dying it every two weeks!Does anyone know how to stop red hair dye from fading so fast?
Y Serum shampoo and conditioner by Nexxus seems to be the best for holding in the color. I am a stylist that just went blonde. During my red phase, the Y Serum products kept my reds bold and I didn't have to recolor until I had visible roots. I never had to recolor due to fading. the products can only be purchased at salons.Does anyone know how to stop red hair dye from fading so fast?
Is it the kind with the separate color and developer... or the all in one kind?

I find that mixing a dallop of the color creme with some conditioner one a week or so will help keep it bright. But I have short hair and I can get away with only using half of what comes in the box.
3 words: nice 'n easy.
As a former hair stylist I can tell you red is the hardest color to keep in your hair!! There are technical reasons which I won't go into...First of all, do you color at home? If so, go to a salon and have them do it professionally. Depending what color your hair is they would most likely ';fill'; your hair before the color and that will make it last longer. You can't do that yourself at home with no knowledge of hair coloring. Also, purchase some professional shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. It is sometimes as reasonable as the stuff at the store is now. And, it will make a huge difference. Good luck!
Try the Dove hair shampoos and conditioners for red hair. The stuff for blond hair worked at keeping my blond highlights from fading. I guess the stuff for red hair would work. I love Dove's line of hair products they work great.
Wait 2 days after dying your hair to wash it. Then, when you do, use a shampoo that is made for color treated hair and use warm water, not hot. When you dry your hair, let it air dry, don't rub it with a towel too much or it will break, damage and fade your hair.
The sun is the biggest reason red hair color fades try to wear a hat during the suns peak hours and use a good color protecting shampoo and conditioner Redken makes great products.
i dye my hair black, i use this stuff called McAdam, it works really but i think u can only get it in england
There are three things you need to do:

1. Professionaly have your hair died.

2. Wash your hair in city water or some not-hard-water source (hard water will strip color faster than anything else).

3. Use a shampoo specifically for color treated hair. There are several on the market and they are all about the same.

Good luck!
