Does anybody know of a red hair dye (salon or drugstore brand) that does not fade quickly?

I really like wella hair color but if that's too expensive the revlon colorist auburns are really nice and feria has a nice line of reds too. I've been coloring my hair red for a very long time. John Freida has a nice not too expensive line of shampoo and conditioners just for red hair and sometimes I take my favorite conditioner and add a tiny bit of special effects red hair dye to it and use it as a color glaze every so often to keep my color maintained. I find the best way to keep red in is to put on a bit of mousse with sun screen on my hair before going out in the sun to protect the color and try not washing it everyday. If the John Freida shampoo and conditioner isn't for you at least use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair that will keep the color in. I hope I helped. Also, if your hair is dark make sure you lighten it a bit first so that the color holds better. Avoid doing this yourself at all costs because it can damage your hair a lot but if you must I reccomend going to a beauty store and getting a proffesional lightener or bleach there. Good luck. (:Does anybody know of a red hair dye (salon or drugstore brand) that does not fade quickly?
Nope, I've been seaching for one for a long time. Red is hardest color to keep.Does anybody know of a red hair dye (salon or drugstore brand) that does not fade quickly?
Red is the most difficult color to keep in your hair. It fades really easy and the upkeep is expensive and time consuming.

You can go to the beauty supply store and try to find some Manic Panic color or something extreme like that and maybe that will help, but from experience, the red doesn't stay!

What would happen if i put bright red hair dye on copper hair?

my hair is dyed a copper/auburn color

i would like to know what would happen if i put a bright red hair dye

like in this pic

http://www.lorealparisusa.com/_us/_en/external/images/products/large/HCo7_41_large.jpgWhat would happen if i put bright red hair dye on copper hair?
It will probably look exactly like whats on the box. But keep in mind that your roots will not be the same color when you touch them up with this dye since that is virgin hair (undyed) and wont be as vibrant.

Do salons usually carry red hair dye?

not the natural orange/red hair color like RED RED RED fire engine red?

I want to get some red high lights in my bangs but I dont want to do it myself because I have to bleach it and blah blah blah long story short - Ill screw it up haha.Do salons usually carry red hair dye?
Yes, they usually carry every color.Do salons usually carry red hair dye?
Yes. When you're talking to the stylist explain that you DON'T want orange. You want a true red or a cool red. RED,RED,RED, fire engine red is pretty clear too. :-) Good luck
I bet they'll do it for you. The next time you're near a salon, you should check. I think they'll die it for you though.
Good for you.........Reds Rule!!!!!!!!
yes!!my salon,John Freida, carries a wonderful red hair dye(which i have never used)and a spantabulus line of hair care for redheads.(which i have never bought)you can find reds ranging from bloodred to deep auburn to chesnutty red!!

you can get them to dye it for you. it's cool!!
yup. they do. cuz i got it done at a NORMAL NOT FANCY.. average salon :]
yes they do, they mix their own colours, any colour, ive seen lime green streaks.

make sure you go to a good salon, with higher prices, not places like first choice!
yeah of course.

call in and ask.

most of them do.
MOST OF THE TIME THEY DO BUT IF ITSN'T RED ENOUGH FOR U I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY DO

GOOD LUCK WITH THE NEW HAIR COLOR I BET IT WILL LOOK GREAT !

Will Garnier Nutrisse Blonde pre-lightener lift red hair dye?

I have dyed red hair and previously had very blonde hair (also dyed) which i prefer being and so want to remove the red and re-dye blonde, I can't afford a salon. Will Garnier Nutrisse Blonde pre-lightener lift red hair dye?
don't use a pre-lightener (which is just a bleach kit with a fancy title) to get dye out of hair - bleach is intended for use on natural hair, not dyed.

yes you can get Goldwell system hair colour remover here: http://www.salonsdirect.com/PD_51339.asp鈥?/a> or at Sallys

If I put blonde hair dye on dark red hair dye, what will happen?

The dark red dye has faded, and is a brownish-light-red now. I put in an ashy blonde and I know it probably won't look that good. My natural color is dark brown.

So...what will it look, or rather: How bad will it look? xDIf I put blonde hair dye on dark red hair dye, what will happen?
go to a cosmetologist and get a professional to change your hair color if not you will regret it!If I put blonde hair dye on dark red hair dye, what will happen?
Nothing will happen, the number one rule of hair color is ';you can't life color with color.'; But if you got box color from the store you have bought a product that will bleach. The ash will tone out the red, so depending on the shades of your hair and the color it could be a nice blonde/light brown. Again, I can't really tell you without looking at the actual colors, but it may not turn out badly.
By definition, to ';dye'; means to make darker, by adding artificial colour pigments. How can you make brownish light red lighter by adding more colour pigments to it?? Think first.

The only time this will work is when this ';dye'; is used on white hair. We all know that all permanent tints contain bleach in them. That is the only way they can work.

If you want corrective colour work done, you need to go to a professional hair colourist and have it done properly. You can of course experiment with a variety of box colours until you find what you want, or until the hair gives up, whichever comes first.

When you don't know what you are doing, don't try. Good rule to follow for everything.
The blonde will probably either not show up in your hair or will make it discolored. You will probably need to wash or bleach out the old dye and your natural hair color for the blonde dye to show through correctly
it will probably turn orange because the products in the blonde box hair dye isn't strong enough to go lighter by so many levels
u will turn into an aminal...Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... i think ur on crack... bt i love u!!

  • Is there a red hair dye that doesn't fade?

Every time I dye my hair red the orange tone washes out after about 2 weeks and it just ends up brown. Is there a red hair dye that doesn't fade?
Oh oh oh!!! i know the answer....

I have search every professional color line I can think of to find one where the reds dont fade. It's Keune color from France. I even put intense reds in my clients' hair and 6 weeks later they are still intense. I love my Keune color line. You will be very happy with the results. Is there a red hair dye that doesn't fade?
Sorry, but red fades faster than any other color. What you can do is have your stylist put your hair in a plastic cap while the color processes. With some colors you can't go under the dryer, but if you are using one that can, than that will help it to last longer as well (put on a plastic cap before going under the dryer), just make sure you have a 5 min cool down time after going under the dryer. If you're using an over the counter color, you may want to go into a salon, professional colors work a lot better. And using professional shampoo %26amp; conditioner for color treated hair will help as well.
I just dyed my hair (red) for the second time with Nice'n easy permanent hair dye

not only does the colour stay, but that nice shine from dying the hair lasts too

by the way, after you've dyed it make sure you use a colour protect shampoo and conditioner

well red dyes are the fastest fading color...because there color molecules are the biggest and dont penetrate deeply into the cuticle..there is things u can use to help save ur color...wash your hair in luke warm showers, use a color protectint, tinted shampoos and conditionors for ur hair...but try goldwell or redken hair color..they have very good lasting color.

thanks mindy, i have never heard of that line...i will have to try it out on my hair,,cus i love red hair on me..
at hot topic they have die that stays in 4 like 5-7 days and then one that stays in 4 2-3 weeks and another that stays in 4 like 4-5 months they work on come in red blue green yellow pink and colors like that!!!!

I don't think there is. Even if you get it done professionally, it will still fade faster then other colors.

Demi permanent would be a plus, but permanent is alright too. :) Thanks in advance. Can someone recommend a good vivid red hair dye?
The absolute BEST brand of bright hair dyes is ChromaSilk Vivids. These totally unique semi-permanent dyes are made using keratin amino acids- so they actually create artificial pigment cells, instead of just sitting on top of your hair. Technically its a salon-only brand, but its worth doing some digging to get your hands on it. Try talking to people at your local hair salon or cosmetology school, asking any friends who are in school for doing hair, or possibly Ebay. The color is so vibrant, and it doesn't fade out the moment you get it wet. It only takes 15 minutes, its a 1-step dye, and if you decide to bleach it to change your color, it comes out as easily as natural pigment. I used dark purple in this dye, and when I put bleach on it, it lightened to platinum in 3 minutes.

What is the BRIGHTEST red hair dye that is permanent and is extra extremely bright?

I've never seen a PERMANENT bright red haircolor...everyone I've known who's had their hair colored bright red has used a semi-permanent dye, and just re-applied every couple of weeks. In order to make it show up as a bright red, you do have to basically bleach all the color out of your hair to begin with (until it's white). Otherwise, your base color will muddy the effect.

I'd recommend going to a beauty supply store and asking them...they should be able to help you. What is the BRIGHTEST red hair dye that is permanent and is extra extremely bright?

if your skin tone is very dark as that picture on this page you don't need bright red hair. because people with a dark skin tone don't look good with bright colors in their hair
go to a store like hot toppic or a beauty supply store. You should be able to get a good one there

It depends on what kinds of dyes are in the hair dye more than likely red hair dye is a basic dye. The best way to remove basic dyes are with an acid. The closest thing around the house to an acid is vinegar, try this and it wont harm your floor finish.

I've dyed my hair red with some Live Colour XXL in Hypnotic Red but after a week it's already faded a lot. I have light strawberry blonde hair and I want a permanant dye that retains its colour for a little longer.

Is there another dye to use or is there something I need to do?

thanksWhat is a good permanant red hair dye?
Loreal Feria is really good.I used to use the deepest red colour,I cant remember the exact name of it.The colour booster that comes with it is amazing.

Red hair color fades the fastest then any color..No matter what brand, It'll fade after a week or two....You can try a Shampoo for colored hair(that 'protects' the color.), But I have red in my hair, and it didn't really do much for it.

Will temperary purple or red hair dye show on dark brown hair or will i have to bleach it?

Some colours may show up but it would only be like a tint or sheen on the hair. You really would be best bleaching at least part of your hair to maximise the vibrancy of the result. The following links show photos of actual hair dye results - some are on unbleached hair (this is mentioned underneath the relevant photos) there is also a link that gives more advice on dyeing your hair and in the help section there is a page that gives advice on colours that MAY work on dark or unbleached hair.

Hair Help: http://www.beeunique.co.uk/Hair-Main.htmWill temperary purple or red hair dye show on dark brown hair or will i have to bleach it?
If you buy the temp coloring mousse then yes it will show. I have dark brown hair and I used the mousse and my hair was pink! It also depeneds on your hair texture and whether it's coarse or fine. The more fine, the more it will absorb color. The mousse is by Loreal and it comes in brightly colored baxes. Have fun!!!Will temperary purple or red hair dye show on dark brown hair or will i have to bleach it?
putting temp dye over dark hair wont be vibrant, it may show a little... i dont mean it will lighten your hair in any way, it will just be reallllllllllllly dark. if your going for a more vibrant color, your going to have to bleach it.
You'll have to bleach it. The most recommended bleach (as I've so far seen) is Loreal Quick Blue. You can buy a packet of it and mix it with the bleach you need (20, 30, 40).

If you haven't decided what brand of dye you want yet, then I recommend getting Special Effects hair dye. It lasts for about 2-4 weeks and comes in a variety of colors (pimpin' purple, purple smoke, deep purple, nuclear red, candy apple red, etc...). If you want a dye that will fade in a few days, then I recommend you get Manic Panic. It looks very vibrant at first but fades extremely quickly.
more than likely, no. I know color pulse by loreal will definitly tint your hair but it isnt that noticable. To really get noticable results, you have to bleach it.
let it fade slowly as you wash your hair.

in the meanwhile, it probably looks interesting.
Purple wont, red might but it wont be as bright. Your going to have to bleach it, make sure you deep condition though other wise your hair will get really dried out.

Any good tips on how to keep red hair dye from fading?

Buy a pigmented shampoo. They used to be available to professionals only, but in the past few years they've become extremely accessible. Pretty much every shampoo brand, from drugstore to top of the line, makes one.

You could also tone it yourself between visits to the salon... Just go to Sally's and buy a bottle of dye that matches your shade, dilute it in shampoo, and wash your hair with it every week or two.Any good tips on how to keep red hair dye from fading?
K, its a little gross, but once when i used to have red hair, my stylist told me not to wash it for 3-4 days after dying it. this gives it enough time to settle into your hair.

there are lots of shampoos (however some are expensive) that are for colour treated hair, especially red since it only lasts for about 2 weeks.

another good way to keep it vibrant, although it is gross too, is beet or carrot juice. ';ugh'; is what i said when someone told me that. you can mix the beet juice with olive oil, that way you can keep the colour bright while the olive oil will help moisturize your hair since it has been dyed. do this by mixing enough of the two for your hair, separating strands and soaking it, then putting on a towel for about 30-60 mns to lock in moisture. wash out normally as you would any other day.

also, dont wash hair every single day. bad for your hair regardless. good luck!;p

edit: mehandi/henna is not good for chemically/color treated hairAny good tips on how to keep red hair dye from fading?
It may sound gross, but you shouldn't wash it often b/c red fades easily and quickly. You should wash it every other day or 3-4 times a week w/ cold water. %26amp; use a color preserve shampoo/conditioner. Red will eventually fade to a light brown which I didn't like.
Hello, you should try using Unicure Hair and Skin Conditioner available at www.unicure.com it has been around since 1973 and was #1 selling hair conditioner they have a full line of hair care products. Definitely the best!
apply mehandi (marudani)....it will keep ur hair away from fading,, apply at night wash it on morning.....If ur body naturally cold. plz avoid it
Wash your hair in cold water. As cold as you can stand.

  • Will Red hair dye (for dark hair) work on died back hair?

no, on dark died hair, and you want to go lighter you will have to have your hair stripped and then coloured. It will only dye your NATURAL roots. In fact your hair will dye most colours if it is a natural colour. I had my hair done last week just to a lighter brown by my friend who is a hairdresser and she explained to me why I needed my hair srtipping, also after you have successfully dyed it red, only dye the roots with the same colour, if you dye all of it it will go darker (dont have a clue why!) Hope I helped

red fades fast.... PERIOD. you cant make it stay... try using conditioners that have color pigment in them...thats ur best betWhats a good red hair dye that doesn't fade fast?
If you color your hair yourself, I would recommend Feria products. They have some awesome red colors and a great weekly conditioning treatment. But all reds fade, I'm afraid..Using the pantene should help, but I like Radiant Red by John Frieda better. Plus they have ';Color Glaze';. It's a conditioning treatment that adds shine. It's awesome...
well if u dye ur hair, ur not supposed 2 wash it day after day. it fades faster then.

no matter wat color u do, its going 2 fade. but with red, right away, its really pretty and shiny. but within a few days-weeks, it fades, fast. and it looks fake. i personally recomend like a red-ish brown, with red highlights. it looks rly pretty, and u still get that red in it, but it wont fade so quickly.

out of the box dyes fade faster then salons. so stick with the salon.

What brand of red hair dye gives the most intense results?
Don't use live XXL because it long term damages your hair. :)

Use Feria, it's really nice and gives a good result. If you want it even brighter, use that, and then use this brand called directions (I recommend Pillarbox Red). It's so good! It costs about 5 pound for a tub and really really works. I use it on my hair :)
If you have sallys or cosmo prof ect or any hair supply store... Then buy ion medium intense red. I went from bleach blonde to this %26amp; I absolutly love it!!
ive tried so many hair dyes.

Is there a good red hair dye that is pretty, not shocking and will leave your hair soft?

I recommend the color experts two-step product (the one in the big red box that comes w/ highlights)--it's called cherry cordial. I've been using this for more than a year, and get a lot of compliments on it, including from salon professionals. Costs approximately $20, much more affordable than professional coloring, and I'm pleased with the results. It does leave my hair soft, and comes with extra conditioner. I've had my hair profesionally done before (including once when I messed the color up myself), but for my lifestyle, home coloring works just as well (that is, I'm not super obsessive about appearance). All hair dyes fade with time, and red is the worst--but it's still affordable to keep this one up, as opposed to $100 a month for a salon job.Is there a good red hair dye that is pretty, not shocking and will leave your hair soft?
dark red as burgandy !! im a guy and that's the new sh-it im thinkin of dien my hair againIs there a good red hair dye that is pretty, not shocking and will leave your hair soft?
Any home dye kit will give you problems. Go to a pro, it's worth it.
you really need to go to a professional... especially if this is not the first time you have dyed your hair..unless your undyed hair has grown all out, then the color with stick differently to the already dyed color and you will have a mix of colors in your hair... not to drastic, but, noticable. No, all store bought dye is meant to change the color of your hair well if its within a few shades... NEVER use like a black dye if you have blonde hair thats over the counter.. the chemicals are not the same and you will ruin your hair and it will look nasty... TRUST ME... But if yourhair is like say brown and your wanting to do this.. i would definatly use garnier fructis hair dyes....more natural and softer look of a color..
hey,am not an expert in this but i will tell you what i know.well, the effect of dyes is almost the same with relaxers!!!they can either make or mar your hair!!!i have really thick hair and i have always longed for sleek and soft hair!not forgetting a suave colour.introducing hair dye!!guess what i went for??RED.needless to say,i went on a shocking, thinnning hair experience that i wont forget in a hurry.

red as a colour is shocking and you cant take that away from it!however, you can go for red colour 33,that will look like marcia cross';s lovely red hue.(if you are lucky that is)however,if you are of african descent like me,please sister, relax your hair before applying dye!!but if you have naturally soft hair, the dye will further thin your hair and automatically make it softer.so,there goes.

all the best!!(hope u dont intend on getting a temper to go with it)lol
Redken makes a great line of red haircolors. You would have to go to a salon to get it but it is so worth it. They have a variety of reds to choose from and you will definetly find one that will suit your skintone. They are long lasting too so you will not have to worry about fading. Remember that when going with a red haircolor: never wash your hair with hot water, use the coolest you can stand because hot water will open the cuticle and let the color bleed out while cool water closes the cuticle and enhances shine too. Also use a shampoo that is specifically made for colored hair. Or even better for red hair. Suave makes a great line of products that you can buy at regular stores that help maintain and enhance red hair. It works just as well as the products you get at a salon. If you lived in Ohio I would do it for you, I love haircolor.

Yes, red will turn blonde pink...The only way to keep it from doing that is to isolate your highlights from the rest of your hair before coloring. Good luck

Will red hair dye show up on dark hair?

I'm about to dye my hair red and I just bleached a few streaks. I want to know if the red hair dye would show up on my hair that I didn't bleach. I have really dark brown hair. Will red hair dye show up on dark hair?
    probably not.

but, me and my friend did this before with green.

she has really dark hair, and she had to bleach it for it to show up.

it could possibly show a lil.

    maybe like an auburn?

    who knos?

    haha.

go for it.Will red hair dye show up on dark hair?
No it wont on the dark hair that isnt bleached. Since your hair is so dark you need to bleach it for it to show up a nice red. Or if not, you can ask your hair dresser if he/she can dye it red without bleaching it.
you may have to dye it more than once to get the right shade

Can I put red hair dye over black hair dye?

I have been dying my hair black for a while now, and I like it, but I want to add some character to it. I want to dye the underside of my hair BRIGHT red, but I know that black is near impossible to dye over. Does anyone have any suggestion on what brand would work the best to do this? And where I would get it?Can I put red hair dye over black hair dye?
yeah i answered this for another person, i've been rinsing my hair jet black like forever, but i'm african american with a relaxer so i refuse to use permanent color, in order for me to go lighter, i have to let the rinse grow out (cause it really stains the hair) and then i would have to bleach it, which would really damage my hair with a relaxer on it, so to answer, u HAVE to bleach it, theres no way around itCan I put red hair dye over black hair dye?
dye it blond then dye it red
you have to bleach it , but i recomend to let the black grow out
you would have to bleach it first before the red color would take to your black hair.
u will have to bleach ur hair blond then dye ur hair red ... cause other wise u wil get orange or somethign like that
i had died my hair black for a while and wanted to change it to red but i tried and tried and it wouldn't work...i waited till it started to come out(about 6 months)and then died it red and it looks cool as hell....give it time

What red hair dye should I use?

I need a pretty red hair dye that will grow out looking okay, it has to be cheap. If I can get it at target, we're good. I naturally have strawberry blonde hair, so I thought maybe I could use them as highlights so that when it grows out it doesn't look so weird... It's a really light strawberryblonde though. I want a nice non-orangey red. No copper. Thanks!!What red hair dye should I use?
Be careful with that... might be a good idea to talk to beautician, or someone who really knows what's going on with that.

How hard would it be to get red hair dye out?

I have strawberry blonde hair, but I was thinking of dying it a darker shade of red (something like Ashlee Simpson) but if I don't like how it looks, how hard would it be to get it back to the blondish shade I have? How hard would it be to get red hair dye out?
VERY HARD...TRUST ME... there is an old say about red tones... they are the hardest to keep and the hardest to get rid of... you would havve to probably do what I call a double process... where you bleach the hair to remove all the dye and pigment from the hair... then have to come back with a permanent color to give it a normal looking tone... I have seen where it took two even three attempts before getting it right... this is called CORRECTIVE COLOR SERVICE... and it can get very expensive... if you do this (go dark red) and change you mind and want your blond back... expect what I just described... hope this helped you decide:-))))How hard would it be to get red hair dye out?
its going to be close to impossible to go back to your natural hair color. you would first have to strip your hair of the new color you just put in with is about as much as it was to dye it in the first place, then re dye it to your normal color. so dont think about how hard itll be. think about how expensive itll be. is it worth it to you???
unless you use the kind in a spray can, you would have to get it rmoved professionally or else your origional hair color will start to come through and you will get roots and then you will have patches of that color and your old one mixed. it'll look really trashy
Do a strand of hair, then your not stuck, good grief.

I used Loreal Excellence (Intense Red) hair dye with the 30Developer?

But my hair are still dark brown, just a very hint and tint of red in my frontal hair. Where did I go wrong? I kept it on for 45 mins on unwashed dry hair.

Should I go for 2 hours the next time?

Now I have brought this Loreal Feria, in Very Auburn shade. What useful suggestions you have for me?I used Loreal Excellence (Intense Red) hair dye with the 30Developer?
color only works for a certain amount of time once it is mixed with developer. 30 volume probably works for 40-50 min max. depending on the brand. leaving it on longer isn't going to make a difference because after that time it's just going to stop working.

did you already have color on your hair? color doesn't lift through color so if you have previously colored your hair you wouldn't have gotten any lighter even using 30 volume.

as far as the feria color goes, i'm under the impression that the feria color comes with a 20 volume developer. like i said before, color doesn't lift through color and you just colored your hair. all this will do is maybe deposit some auburn tones. if it's darker than you are now it will deposit color and you'll notice a difference, if it's lighter then it won't do anythingI used Loreal Excellence (Intense Red) hair dye with the 30Developer?
Just keep it in longer :)

My hair was dyed a burgundy red colour.

Now ive dyed it with a dark brown.

Its worked quite well except you can see a tinge of red, especially at the root area.

How many times will it need dying until its completley brown?

im not planning on dying it loads of times all in one go btw.

I usually dye hair hair every month or so...............Covering red hair dye with brown hair dye ?
That would depend on how many minutes you left the hair coloring on your hair. For instance, I myself would leave the hair color for one hour. I also noticed that if I switch from different brand to another the desired hair color that I want isn't obtainable because of their different compounds that every company uses on their hair dye as each has a trade mark of their own.

The spacing of hair coloring that you are practicing is good because it gives time for your hair to recuperate from the previous hair dyeing.

Does anyone know how to make red hair dye last longer?

or is there no possible way? bc i want it to stay for a long time...

help?Does anyone know how to make red hair dye last longer?
Use styling products, shampoos, and conditioners for dyed hair.

Wash with lukewarm water to remove styling product build up and oils (washing with cold water is not effective when you shampoo).

When you condition, rinse with cool or cold water. Using cool water closes your hair follicles and seals in moisture and color. For added shine, rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar after you condition. This really works. I promise!

To keep your hair red without constantly dying it, use a henna hair color. Its all natural and also helps your hair stay shiny. Here is a link to a similar product. (I have medium brown hair, and I use a combo of red and brown henna every few weeks to keep the warmth and shine in my hair)

http://www.hennasupply.com/red-henna.htm鈥?/a>Does anyone know how to make red hair dye last longer?
If you are a blonde you are screwed, because it will always stay but just get oranger and oranger. If you are brunette you have more luck. This sounds gross but wash it less, and with less shampoo when you do. Buying shampoo for redheads is good but the best when you are dying it is to buy some kind of if not very exspensive conditioner and shampoos for people who dye their hair. Garnier is okay but color vive works great too. Leave some light spray on conditioner in it too and just too much heat makes it wear off as well. good luck!
there isn't really . red fades. best thing u can buy is a red conditioner, it will actually stain your hair red, which will prolong the colour. the other thing is wash your hair as little as possible, as each wash will fade it.
Try Aveda shampoo and conditioner. Get the one made for redheads. Careful, though, don't put it in too often. It can get your hair so red that it's almost pink. :)
Just adding to what's already been said: When you wash your hair, use cool water. When you rinse your hair, use cool water. That's does help abit. And, don't wash it everyday.
Red seems to last longer on hair that has been bleached first also if I wash my hair with cold water (as cold as I can stand) I get less red dye washing out %26amp; it lasts a little longer.
    watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlWUTcQSq鈥?/a>
get a shampoo especially for dyed hair - it actually really helps

What is the best bright red hair dye?

I know all reds fade super fast, but I've been cutting down the showering and that helps, but it still fades like a maniac. Something like this color.

http://www.alternativateatral.com/imagen鈥?/a>What is the best bright red hair dye?
Your major things to watch out for is ';sulfates'; in your shampoos they go under names like sodium laurel sulfate or ';sulfa'; its an ingredient used in shampoos and other products to make it foam and bubble, shampoo lacking foam doesn't mean its not cleaning! Sulfates even hide in most ';color safe'; labeled shampoos!

Also a henna kit may be the way to go but there not the easiest to prepare, for starters the dye after you have mixed it with hot water should sit 3 hours in a warm place preferably covered with plastic wrap and kept in sunlight if possible you will probably want the RED kit not BRIGHT RED for most brands (I used light mountain in the past), I bought the bright red kit online thinking it would look the way I wanted it but the box indicated I actually wanted the RED kit. Also henna for best results you may want to leave in your hair 1-3 hours with a plastic shower cap on top.

If you want normal (chemical) dye semi permanent color might be a good idea, and may not need bleaching if you have light enough brown hair (you will probably get a deep dark cherry color try a strand test) or I really like HERBAL ESSENCES box hair color (no bleaching) but I can only find that brand at Walmart for some reason. That brand has some really amazing colors for those who like something different like the reds, I think number 44 is a real bright red look arround the shades and choose one you like. My favorite color I keep going back to is Bronzed Rubies its like this reddish, burgundy, brown, kind of plum color really different and fun and it looks different from person to person, and depends on what your shade is when you start. What is the best bright red hair dye?
More than likely its not the haircolor itself. reds, not matter what brand are going to fade fast.my advice as far as what to get is, don't buy box color from walmart or any big chain stores. Your best bet is to find a beauty supply store such as sallys or beauty alliance and get the professional color to apply yourself. Its not as cheap as box color but should only cost around 10-20 dollars depending on how much hair u have and how much color u have to get.

There are a lot of ways to keep your red longer though.

Washing with lukewarm water and rinsing with cold water locks the color in, where warm or hot water relaxes the hair and causes it to let go of some of the color. Also, don't towel dry, any friction or heat will make your color fade. Make sure you use a heat protection spray when using a flat iron.also, biolage shampoos and conditioners are good for keeping color.

Red is a lot of work. I've had it for going on 8 years and its a deal to keep up with but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Lol
manic panic.. is really good.. bleach first.. but the red is awesome, and they do have blacklight coolors too..

Best permanent dark red hair dye?

I can't afford the salon anymore but my roots are growing out and the sun is turning the red too light for my taste!Best permanent dark red hair dye?
This is info on hair dye %26amp; bleach. If you semi or permanently dye or bleach your hair you have permanently changed your natural color until you grow it out. You have opened the hair strands cuticle and removed melanin (color). With dye you remove less, then you deposit new color. Bleach you remove more the lighter you go. Once you have dyed your hair you can only go darker or stay the same level but you can change the tone DYE WILL NOT LIFT DYE. Dye will only lift natural color 2 levels with 20 volume developer. Red fades easily the red molecules are different, it's the easiest color to fade but the hardest to get out, yes it confuses us all. Using 1/4 brown neutral with 3/4 of the red will help hold it also using a clear glaze will help maintain it. If you choose to go lighter then you have to bleach the dyed part to the level you want, not your roots at first or they will be way lighter, put on when hair level is similar to root color. Then put the desired color over your entire hair. Don't do your new growth until your dyed hair is almost where you want it or they will be too light. You can't get to ultra blonde without bleaching, there isn't enough lift in the developer you need 40 volume mixed with bleach. I recommend Kalidacolors Blue. Then tone with a violet base. Use a shampoo for Blondes. There are also Hi-lift blonde dyes that are less damaging. If you want to go darker you have to fill the bleached hair with a gold based filler then color over that. Don't use ';box color'; it's unpredictable %26amp; contains metallics that can leave permanent lines in your hair if you change color products. Go to Sally's Beauty Supply they have more professional products %26amp; they can assist you in your purchase %26amp; the prices are better. Use good products not Pantene, Herbal Essence %26amp; Garnier they are silicone products. They make you hair nice at first but as the silicone builds up it locks out moisture your hair weakens %26amp; breaks. Use pro products they last longer because you use less so the extra expense is worth it. The shampoos don't contain a detergent lathering agent so it's weird at first because you are used to lather. Great specialty products are, Nioxxin, (for growth) Joico K-Pak Reconstructor also Silk Results, Rusk has New Pro Elements Keratin. Nexxus Humectruss %26amp; Keraphixx. Big Sexy has good general products. Take Biotin %26amp; Vitamin E to help have healthy hair.Best permanent dark red hair dye?

Unfortunately the brands of hair dye at drug stores dont have enough pigment of color to make it last for a long time. The best thing you could do to make it the color last longer is to get it professionally done. Since its just your bangs it shouldn't cost to much. Professional hair dyes have a stronger color pigment and thats why it lasts a lot longer. What is a good brand of red hair dye?

i use permanent hair dye, but the red always fades quickly %26amp; goes to brown

thankyou:)How to stop red hair dye from fading?
I suggest you use Loreal Feria. It's the best hair dye I have ever used! I've dyed my hair deep burgundy for almost a year now and it still looks great (I've only dyed my hair twice which means that the color can last up to 3 months!) The smell is kinda strong whe you first use it because of the ammonia, but it's the best brand I have ever used and it only costs about $10. I usually use two boxes though, since I have long hair so my hair gets super saturated which is also part of why it lasts so long. You should also consider using shampoos and conditioners designed for red hair only, I've used John Frieda which you can get at most drugstores and it really helps with the fading. As with the rinsing part, it will seem like the color is washing away but that's only for the first couple of weeks. Red hair is a good choice for hair color since darker colors tend to thicken your hair strands. I love my hair right now. Hope this helps =]How to stop red hair dye from fading?
you can use sme nice shampoos which are just for dyed hair they are available everywhere even if u go to a beauty parlor for dying ur hair or cutting them u can just ask them that wht kinda shampoos should u use and yeah as u use conditioner just put it on the hair not on the skull otherwise ur hair will start falling....
No way. Red is always going to fade fast. You can try shampoo's that are for colored hair, but in the end, They don't really work..It's just a precation.
maybe use shampoo that is made specifically for red hair and dyed hair. it will make it last longer.
dont wash your hair too much.

wear a swimming cap while swimming.

    this should save your color.

Does PERMANENT red hair dye fade as easily as semi-permanent hair dye?

I've heard over and over again that red hair dyes tend to fade quicker than any other color. I'm getting my hair dyed red next week; the hair dye is PERMANENT not semi-permanent. Does permanent red really fade as easily?Does PERMANENT red hair dye fade as easily as semi-permanent hair dye?
permanent dye always lasts longer than semi-permanent, no doubt, but red will fade quicker than the other colors. since you're getting your hair bleached as well, the color should be more prominent and resistant. bleach opens up the pores in your hair cells and allows maximum absorption of the dye. be warned however that bleach is pretty damaging and you'll have to do some heavy duty conditioning after wards. depending on what kind of red your dye is, it will fade into a lighter color. I've dyed my hair red after bleaching many times and it usually faded to pink/orange. some tips!

    - wash your hair in lukewarm to cold water. this minimizes dye being washed out.

    - condition like crazy. buy the kind specifically made for dyed hair.

    - don't wash your for 24 hours before the bleaching/dying. remnants of shampoo may interfere with the absorption.

    - if you can, take protein pills to strengthen your hair. that way it might be less brittle. but this varies with the individual.

    - the reason why red fades fastest is because of the sun's rays. if you can, avoid direct sunlight as much as possible.

good luck and happy coloring!Does PERMANENT red hair dye fade as easily as semi-permanent hair dye?
Usually not, because it is permanent, but if your are bleaching your hair blonde, then it probably won't fade. But I wouldn't advise too much dying, and bleaching your hair. It will thin, and become weak, and if you continue it may fall out. So don't use the dyes/bleaches TOO much.
all i know is that anyone that dies their hair red, or attempts..... it usually has a pinkish tent to it after a few weeks or so!
any kind of red does fade pretty quickly try using a color safe shampoo or try one of those just for red kind of shampoos
Yes, it does. It just means it isn't as likely to wash out. UV rays will still cause it to fade quicker than brown or black. Blonde obviously doesn't fade, it just gets lighter.

The best thing you can do is keep a hat on when you're out, or stay out of the sun. If you're a sun person, it's gonna fade. Try a 'for colored hair' shampoo and conditioner, like L'oreal color Vive. It worked for me. They also have other color-specific shampoo and conditioner things out, that either add a little color each time you wash or add UV protection each time you wash.
If you wash your hair everyday it'll fade. Especially if you use cheap shampoo. Nothing is ever permanent

Which brand of (extremely) bright red hair dye would you recommend?

I want a very bright red that won't fade too quickly(even though red fades the fastest) and will last the longest and where can I purchase it?Which brand of (extremely) bright red hair dye would you recommend?
The best way to keep the dye in for a long period of time is to first bleach your hair. That way the chemicals can seep into the hair and wont wash out as quickly.

Now, I've had my hair every color of the rainbow and then some at least once before. I've got red three times. In my personal opinion, Special Effects has the longest lasting dyes. Many people have told me Manic Panic was better, but it only lasted 3 weeks for me. Where as the SE lasted 4 months. Special Effects is also reasonably priced and can be found at Specialeffectsusa.com

What happens when you put red hair dye over pink hair?

ok so i dyed my hair pink like almost a month ago and now i want dark red and i want to dye it again so if i did what color would it come out as i already know it could kill my hair but the pink is really annoying me please no sarcasm and if you could give me a place to get the dye that would be nice toWhat happens when you put red hair dye over pink hair?
honestly, if I were you, I would dye it to a medium brown, leave that on for like 48 hours, then do the red on top of that. I always get my hair color at Target...What happens when you put red hair dye over pink hair?
If you are talking about a permanent more natural red dye, you need to bleach the pink out. Those dyes do not work the same way. The pink (and unnatural reds) stain the outside of the hair shaft. Regular dye goes into the hair shaft, so if you put a permanent color over the pink it will turn some strange, unpredictable color. You would have to bleach it. If you want a dark red like a Manic Panic or Punky Color red, then go ahead.

What is good red hair dye?

I want to dye extensions like bright red. should i get the dye from hottopic or the manic panic dye? What is good red hair dye?
I'd go for the Hot Topic, I think they have what you're looking for, they have a dye called Red Rum and the color is pretty vibrant, it's semi permanent, but I think that's the best.

Well, it will probably blend, and make it like a really dark brown with red tints.Would a dark red hair dye go over my darkish brown hair dye?
would put a red tint in your hair
I think it would turn auburn. I like that.
The red will not cover the brown. Your hair needs to be a lot brighter if you wanted the red to show up. It might blend in with it but not much, you might only be able to kind of see it when you're in the sun light.

You can't really put anything ontop of brown. You can put black, or another brown. But if want a colour that will show up you need to make your hair lighter first. (:

No your hair won't be more red if you sit in the sun when you dye it, it may fry it though. The box says no sunlight for a reason. If you want your hair really red, bleach it first, then dye it red. Hope this helps! If I sit in the sun with red hair dye in will it make it more bright?
There is a reason the box says avoid sunlight. If you sit in the sun with red dye on your head it will lighten it to orange.

What is a inexpensive way to remove red hair dye ????

my friend tried to dye her hair burgandy and it has turned bright reddish-mauve,how can we get this out without having to go to a prof.?What is a inexpensive way to remove red hair dye ????
The only way to get red out is to go to a salon.Hairstylists say it is the hardest color to get out. They first have to strip all the color out of your hair it takes about 3 hours. It will then be very light yellow depending on how dark you dyed it.The hair stylist will then chose a color closet to what it has turned and looks closest to natural. If they make it to dark you will get a green or gray cast to your hair not very natural. What is a inexpensive way to remove red hair dye ????
My girlfriend says you could try dying it over with brown, but speaking from experience, red is hard to get out or cover up.

But think it over! Redheads are cool!

How to change dark red hair dye to a dark brown with caramel highlights?

You can't. I take it you meant to say red hair tint (dye is used on fabric, not hair). All tints are made to create the colour they have in them. You cannot change it without going back to the factory and starting over. Choose another colour preparation. Use this only to get dark red hair colour. Anything you try to do to attempt to change it will be disappointing to say the least.

Without knowing the present hair colour, the condition of your hair, and what exactly you meant by ';dark brown with carmel highlights';, it is nearly impossible to make any recommendations. It is always best, as we all know, to have a consultation first with a qualified professional hair colourist to discuss the whole issue, including alternatives, up-keep, cost, and how to get rid of it if you change your mind. You don't want any surprises before you make your decision.

Wait the 2-3 months like the box directions suggest, then dye it back to your natural color. Or something close enough to it. Never bleach cuz it'll fry your hair. Do ya really want it looking and feeling like straw??
if u just did it then use a cleansing shampoo alot. also a professional lightener will help with the ends.your best bet is to get a pro to do it
    bleach
dye your back to extra strong blonde
Dawn dishwashing soap is strong enough to remove some of the color...you can also go to a stylist and get a highlight shampoo, which will help as well
there are a few remadies the and they are hot oil treatmenst hairspray, shampooing, and expouser to water will gradually fade hair dye or to really liten it up or get the color out immediately make a small batch of bleach mixture and add it to 2 tablespoons or so of shampoo in a cup and stir it up the shampoo your hair with the mixture kneading the hair and start at the roots and work your way down to the end and then back up you should see the color disappear

Does non-permanent red hair dye wash off easier than permanent hairdye?

Permanent red hair dye is notorious for fading but never completely coming off (it leaves behind a light ';shiny new penny'; hue.) So I was wondering, if I were to dye my hair with a NONpermanent red hair dye (like Natural Instincts by Clairol) would it in time completely fade out of my hair? I like dying my hair red but I hate the brassy color it turns into...Does non-permanent red hair dye wash off easier than permanent hairdye?
a non permanent dye will more likely rinse out completely - tho i have heard horror stories of temporary black hair dye that lingers for MUCH longer...

And to avoid the brassy penny color - go to a beauty supply store (like Sally Beauty supply) and pick up an additive to use when you dye your hair. The employees are very knowledgeable and should be able to help you find the perfect thing.

Also, when you dye w/ a permanent red dye, you can help the color last by washing it in cool water only, and wash it every 2 days instead of daily.

    Hope this helps!!

:)Does non-permanent red hair dye wash off easier than permanent hairdye?
Lol, do you mean semi-permanent and temporary? Yeah, temporary is less likely to stain you hair. But it wont work as well, and its REALLY sticky! So if you have a dark hair color, Id just take the risk....
Um, well, yes, that's the point of NONpermanent dyes. That they're.... you know. Not permanent.

  • Tips for keeping red hair dye in your hair?

    Hey everyone,

so here is the thing, I dyed my hair this awesome auburn color like 3 weeks ago and in the sun it looked like this really cool red color, but now the dye has all washed out and i am back to my light brown color. I mean like the color but the red looked so good on me. Do you have any suggestions on how to keep red hair dye in your hair? Yes I use at home kits I cant afford to go to a salon =(Tips for keeping red hair dye in your hair?
theres prodcuts out there by John Freida.

he has shampoos and conditioners, a whole line and should be anywhere you can buy shampoo.

theres some special prodcuts and their called Glazes. It comes for blonde hair, brown and red. You use it once or twice a week i think, and leave it on your hair for about 5 mins after u wash it. I had blone hair before and i used it, i found my color lasted longer and it was shiny, and even a little blonder. But i also used the shampoo. the glaze is about 12 bucks.

im buying some again cause my hairs dark now thanks for reminding me haha :D

Would red hair dye work on died dark hair?

i would love to change my hair colour to either a bright red or blonde, the problem is my hair is dyed dark brown/black, and im worried that neither of the colours would take. i cant afford to go to a salon. any tips ? :)Would red hair dye work on died dark hair?
You MUST remove the darker color first. Haircolor was made to lighten the hair's natural pigment - NOT the artificial color from hair dye.

Trying to lighten hair with a darker shade on it already can result in ';Hot Roots'; (very light / bright) an no result on the already colored hair.

Get COLOR OOPS! or L'Oreal Color Zap! or HairColor Remover Kit and remove the dark color first then, recondition and apply your new shade.

P.S. I DO NOT Recommend Bleach Or Hair Lighteners for this job - Bleach or Hair Lighteners are made for lifting natural haircolor, they are not formulated for removing artificial haircolor although they will often work (But not always) they take too long and will cause more damage. HairColor Removers will remove even very Dark or Black Shades in 20 - 40 Mins. Hair Bleach or Lighteners can take 45 mins. to 2 hours for the same result and will remove more of your own pigment and cause more damage, making recoloring difficult and uneven. Haircolor Removers can restore your natural or previous shade unless the permanent color changed it and leave you hair in better condition.

    Hope This Helps.

Good-Luck!!Would red hair dye work on died dark hair?
You have to bleach your hair before you even attempt to go bright red or blonde.... I highly suggest you go to the salon if you have really dark hair, but i am assuming they will be weary about doing it because it WILL kill your hair.

@ Home: WARNING.... Will damage your hair!! For best results, buy the boxed hair dye (in the colour you want) and 2 boxes of bleach, not just blonde hair die it has to be bleach! Apply box#1 as directed, your hair will be a nasty orange colour, then wait a day (if you can stand it) and then apply box#2 of bleach, wait another day (if you can) and then apply hair dye as directed on box,,,,, always make sure your hair is dry when applying bleach and colour.

    Good luck :)
If you wanted to go with bright red you would have to bleech your hair lighter first then apply the color. Blonde, you would have to bleech it then add toner so your hair wouldnt be orange.
It wont take to your hair unless you bleach it. Ive had this issue and most of the time all i got was a dark red tint you only saw in the light.
I dont think you will look good with red or blonde hair. thats just my opinion...

How to take off red hair dye?

I dyed my hair a couple of weeks ago with red hair dye and am tired of it. Anyone got tips on how to get it out other then just washing it out cuz its not working. I just want the color to fade out already. How to take off red hair dye?
Use Color Fix. Products like Color Fix, Color Oops, and Haircolor Remover Kit can be purchased at most drugstores. Color Fix and Color Oops will remove hair dye, restoring hair to its natural color. Haircolor Remover Kit by L'Oreal will strip hair of all dye and prepare it for re-tinting so that you may dye it another shade. Read the packages carefully and choose which is best for you.How to take off red hair dye?
you can either color over it an ashy brown color to cancel out the red.Or bleach it,but get that done proffesionally.wash your hair with head and shoulders or a clarifying shampoo to help strip the color.
Either dye over it or buy a hair dye remover from price attack, priceline or any other hair/beauty store
you can go to the salon and get your hair stripped, not bleached!

that will bring you to your original color!

Go to the salon. You really need to have a professional fix it. You will end up with no hair or very damaged hair in the end if you try to fix it yourself. How do you get red hair dye completly out your hair?
You can grow it out, but you obviously knew that already. You should probably get it done professionally if it is really bothering you that much. You could shave your head too (like Britney Spears).
No way over the counter products are going to help you. They are just going to damage your hair. You really need to go to a professional.
I have had RED RED in my hair before and all i did was go to a hair store, like sally's and get a little bottle that says red out or orange out depending on how much red you have in you hair and its your a blonde brunette or whatever . but i wouldn't suggest bleaching it because it will either pull red even more, pull a pink, or just strip and fry your hair i would say go for a darker color for now to over power the redness
try using clarifying shampoo...if you used it everyday it will slowly remove the dye out of your hair....it's meant to remove all the buildup... ie. conditioners, mousse, gel, hairspray, dyes....etc

this happened to my girlfriend while she was visiting on her vacation, she didn't realize the shampoo i provided would do this to her hair....after two weeks her hair on top of her head was all gray hair...it had removed all the dye out...she has been gray since she was 23

I would recommend using a hair dye remover from Sally Beauty Supplies. I had brown hair and wanted to back to blonde, well when I dyed my hair blonde it came out red and orange due to a bad bottle of hair dye. I went to the Supplies store and that's what they recommend. The kit took all of it out and more. The color I ended up with was a light ash blonde and no red in sight
The best thing to do is just dye it gradually darker and darker. You can't make dramatic color changes. That's like people who expect to go from black to blonde. Ain't happenin'.
    Read the box
I had this experience several years ago when my hair was a dark auburn, but my real hair color is ash blond. I went to a salon and they did a peroxide wash to help remove it, and it came out a little brassy, but not too bad . However, I was unhappy with this so I bought a haircolor close to my natural one, a medium ash blond, and because my hair was now lighter, the haircolor totally covered everything and blended with the roots. Be careful, I wouldn't try the all over bleach thing by yourself because you could have some serious breakage-don't go the manic panic route! It should be professionally done. Good luck!

or purple over the top of brown? instead of red. What colour would my hair turn if i put red hair dye over the top of dark brown?
If you hair is coloured dark brown, you can bleach it to blonde to then go over with a red colour.

The only problem is how dark your hair colour is. When you bleach it will only lift to a certain level, so if you hair is very dark brown, then you won't get a white blonde, more of a orangey blonde. You can still achieve a red colour over an orange/blonde, but it may not be as light as you want it.

It is possible to do 2 bleach colour applications, but think about the condition of your hair, will it really be worth it in the long run?

Hope this helps. SamWhat colour would my hair turn if i put red hair dye over the top of dark brown?
These so-called hairdressers are full of bullshit.

Look. I have dark brown hair. I bleach the front of my hair (what I like to call my ';skunk stripe.';); if I didn't bleach, you'd never even know I had dyed it (green, by the way).

Find a good bleach kit (I use Raw WhiteOut Bleach Kit, which you can pick up at any Hot Topic, but most supermarkets will have something in their toiletries section).

FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS and DO A STRAND TEST. I can not stress this enough. Make note of how long it takes for the strand to lighten, and check it for breakage or ';gumminess;'; if your hair is still in one piece, then you can go for the whole head. By the way, do it in a ventilated room, or the fumes from the bleach will make you nauseous (oh what we do for beauty). And hang on to the test strand; you'll need it for the next step.

Follow the time that it took for the test strand to lighten, then wash the bleach out, and be patient; you want to make sure it's -all- out. It will probably be mostly an orange/yellow; that's normal with very dark hair. If you really must have it lighter, you'll need to wait at the least a few days to reapply, or you could end up with a lot less hair than you started with.

However, since you're dying it anyway, the orangey/yellow will probably suffice. Again, follow the directions for your dye (It depends on the brand) and treat the test strand. Like as above, make note of how long it takes to get the color you want (wipe away the dye on a small section of the strand), and use that time as a guideline for the dye.

Use Vaseline to cover the tops of your ears and your forehead from getting dyed. Apply the dye, rinse well when the time it up, and enjoy your newly-hued hair!
Blonde hair color isn't going to do anything. Nor is the red hair color or purple. All it will do is give your hair a tint. You need to use Bleach, then put the color over the bleached blonde.

Uh. No it won't. Color WILL NOT lighten hair. You need to bleach your hair. It won't be bright. Yes, It may lighten it slightly, IF your hair is natural, But it won't be bright. And if you know how do it right, It won't streak...and will turn out perfectly fine. which is why I ALWAYS suggest a salon for people who aren't licensed.
    DO NOT BLEACH.

If you want it lighter gradually get highlights done, or just don't lighten it. Just putting colour over dark hair won't do anything, you'll have a tint for a few weeks if you're lucky but it won't do anything.

Trust me, I'm a hairdresser do NOT bleach your hair, I know this from personal experience!
You can get cream developer (bleach) at a beauty supply shop. I'm sure there must be such places in NZ. Get 30 volume. Leave it on for about 20 minutes. Then rinse it out really good and put the dye on top. You might not end up with bright red hair but it will be quite a bit brighter than if you didn't bleach it at all.
I have NATURAL red hair.. listen do NOT put bleach or blonde dye in it hun,you can simply put it in and make sure to leave it in ten minutes longer and it will be fine;)
When I used to do it to my hair (which is dark brown), I made sure the red was a bright red, and it turned my hair into a beautiful shade of plum. :)

    I say, go for it!!
    You'll need bleach.

P.S. I've tried the anti-dandruff shampoo method but it didn't really do much to tone it down.HELP!! How to fade red hair dye asap!?
DON'T strip your hair by yourself!!! try hot water first. use a volumizing or clarifying shampoo. you can also try to crush a tablet of vitamin c into shampoo and leave it on for about 5 min. when you color your hair with permanent color, it chemically changes the color of you natural hair. were you to try and strip the red out yourself, you could end up with a funny-looking spotted orange colorHELP!! How to fade red hair dye asap!?
PLEASE! call your hairstylist immediatly,...he or she will be more than happy to fix the situation. Do not use over the counter products.. the box does not have a brain, and does not know what you are trying to make it do.

    Please call your hairstylist.
    is it permenant?

shampoo ur hair about 5 times and then condition it last.

when i mean shampoo i mean shampoo then leev for 10 minutes then do it again!
wash it a couple of times and blast dry it with the hairdryer, that should fade it.... my highlighst always fade after a wash and blowdry :(
I've heard you have a 24-48 hour window to lighten the dye via washing. I've also heard if you use Dawn dishwashing liquid that it helps. GOOD LUCK!
Wash your hair in hot water asap. Red hair fades quickly on its own and washing makes it fade even faster. Good luck.
    TONER- AVAILABLE AT BEAUTY SUPPLY
Try John Frieda brunette glossing lotion. This will definitely calm down the redness.
Seriously, it will fade quickly. It probably doesn't look THAT bad, you're just not used to it.

Get up and shower in the morning, it will already be duller. Trust me! I bet it looks great!
Put a dark brown dye over the whole lot.
Dish soap. My beautician taught me this. Use dawn or something like that and condition well.
Dish soap and then use conditioner.
I did this once and my stylist told me to use TIDE detergent WITHOUT Bleach additive.

It took a few days but it was all gone so try it and it will tone it down.

Don't use it more than 2 times and condition VERY WELL inbetween shampoos.
get a hair stripper from your local drug store
What worked best for me was I used a shampoo that strips your hair of oils and such, it fades the color.

Its like a detox for the hair.

Or you can just wash it a lot. With regular shampoo.
Word of advice from a 90's grunge hair dyer (I have had every color of hair and combination of colors from Hot Topics). If you try to fade red to fast it will give your hair and orange tint. Your lucky that red is the fastest hair color to fade, so if you wash your hair everyday for a about a week it should be toned down.
Red is actually the hardest color to get rid of.
Washing your hair in really warm water helps open p the cuticles and release some color. So does blow drying your hair.

    Good Luck!
shave it off and get a wig with the color you want until your hair grows back
A strong clarifying shampoo, wash it several times and leave it on each time, then leave a treatment conditioner on too. If you don't have any clarifying shampoo try washing-up liquid a couple of times - it sounds strange but the detergents are what you need to help fade to colour, again, put a treatment on afterwards if possible.

Hopefully that should help take the edge off the glaring red, good luck.
to be honest the best way is washing it with really hot water and when i say wash i mean really wash it for a good ten Min's and repeat a few times trust me this will work
You dont really want to fade it too much as it will probably go a burnt orange colour or an even worse red. If you can, use a bit of washing up liquid in your shampoo and then go and buy a FLAT brown from somewhere. This means you want something with no tone in it to try and cover as much red as possible. You will probably still have some red shining through but it will look more of a nice deep red. Try not to put a lighter shade over it as this will do nothing, you need to get a darker one. You wont have to worry about your hair going green or anything as the red would have already prepigged it. Hope this helps x
just keep washing with any mild shampoo an make sure you condition when you feel happy with colour honestly don't get stripper after you must off spent a lot of money getting it done washing it all to night will tone the colour down ....
Keep washing! Red dyes fade fast and that is because hair is pourous and the chemicals in red dye have a hard time staying onto the hair.
They have hair dye removal/fading things that you can buy at a drugstore or grocery store. It would be in the same section as the normal hair dyes are. I have used them before and they work wonderfully but they are kinda hard on your hair. Also, though they say ';hair dye removal'; they really only fade it it doesnt remove it compeltely. If you are only looking to fade it slightly than they have shampoos that are specialized to do just that. These are also sold at any drugstore and probably more selection at a beauty store or hair salon. Good luck!
    clarifying shampoo
Dont worry... A couple months ago I had my hair dyed and it was so red that every time I caught my reflection I thought I was bleeding from my scalp. But in a few days it toned down and I ended up dying it that color for 3 months!

It should be a bit more subtle by tomorrow... But I've heard that lemon juice has lightening qualities... But for red hair... that might be a bad thing!

Try super-hot water... or hot extra virgin olive oil.

It should fade after rinsing a few times in hot water. Hope that helps, good luck!

  • Best bright colored red hair dye?

I am looking for the best brand or type of bright red hair dye. I assume that I'll have to bleach my hair first, so maybe bleach included would be the best option. I am most likely dying the hair framing my face, so like larger pieces on either side of my face. I was also wondering how to do it at home. My mom will be helping me, and I've dyed my whole head temporarily with natural tones, but this is a lot different. I just dont know how to separate the hair correctly so please tell me any tips on that. THANKS!Best bright colored red hair dye?
Red is a tricky color even for us stylists. if you pre-lighten your hair you will then need to fill in the missing primary colors to the level you desire. then there is the toning, my best suggestion is go to a salon or even a hair school, have them do it so you don't end up with bright orange hair. I can see it a mile away in the mall. Just please I beg you, get it done professionally. It will cost less in the long run!Best bright colored red hair dye?
when all else fails dye your hair black

Covering red hair dye that won't. Or making it fade. How do I do it?

I recently highlighted my hair dark rich brown, and highlighted it a red. My sister did it and she used foil. Well it was to maroon purple and I didn't like it. So i got the same brown and tried to cover it up. it didn't work. Well I've tried other dye like blond to lighten it, and I've tried a hair dye removal kit. Then re-dyed it ash brown to eliminate all red. But those original highlights are still there. So please anyone with any advice I need help.Covering red hair dye that won't. Or making it fade. How do I do it?
your gonna have to go even darker on the brown to try to cover up the red.

my hair is naturally dark brown and i was a red head last year. red is the hardest color to put in and take out. i tried to dye it back as med. brown but it wasnt dark enough to cover up the red. and then after that i used darked brown that has faded and its back to seeing my roots. so im gonna have to either go back black brown and black.

just to kind of give u an idea of how dark ur gonna have to do it depending on ur original color.

also, when u put the color on, dont leave it on for 30-45mins or whatever the box says.

leave it on ur head until u can touch it and the color doesnt rub off on ur finger. so a good 2 hours or so.

my aunt owns a salon in new york and thats what she always told me.
