How do I cover over red hair dye?

Hi.

Try over dying with a darker brown but unfortunately the red probably had bleach of some form in it so the red or a lighter shade will probably keep coming through. I'd go to the hair dressers if i was you and they may suggest low lights or something of that nature to break up the ';blockyness'; of it.

Don't use henna - it may go green

Don't use blonde it'll rag your hair AND it may go orange!

Been there done that ;)How do I cover over red hair dye?
Hannah?!

Sorry...you need to go to the hairdresser, they know how to do it the best. How do I cover over red hair dye?
With a darker hair dye but eventually it will start to show through. I wouldn't bleach it yourself either as it can turn out dodgy.
with a dark color or go to a stylist so they can do it for you
depends on what color you are trying to achieve. you can add a nice deep brown and the red will leave a pretty undertone. if you are trying to completely rid yourself of the red, you will have to add an ash to counter it and then color over it with a brown or black of your choice. if you are wanting to go blonde, then you could do highlights with bleach. the red will not be completely gone, it will take some time, but you can go blonde gradually.
red actually fades a lot. every time ive had red highlights in my hair it fades very quickly. also you can dye your hair a dark brown or black, my mother picks medium ash brown because it counters to reddness in her hair. also you can go to a salon and have it taken out professionaly, meaning it would be stripped of the red color.
red is one of the worst to try to cover as it is a strong pigment and tends to shine through. I would for a warm brown colour should tone in well. If you really hate it you could possibly have it stripped out at the hairdresers depending on the condition of your hair.
If you go to a sylelist they can do anything for you. But if you really want to do it on your own either dark brown or black Just becarfull when you go to black because you could ruin your hair if you change it from there because black hair is the hardest to reverse.
I think you can bleach it, then dye it any colour. But you should probably go to the hairdresser!
the only way I ';covered'; my red hair color (it was too red for my taste at the time) was to bleach it out with a Clariol product, designed to strip out color from the hair, either natural or dyed. It then went from firey red to a beautiful strawberry blonde. Either bleach or dye it over with a black hair dye color...but don't use black if you are pale..it will make you even paler looking. Good luck.
the answer is with difficulty, has it been bleached or not

to bleach it again would over process it and damage it

you don't say what your normal colour is, I would suggest you contact a proffesional hairdresser, as your hair is very important
have a brazilian-but does your partner not like red appearing as he helps you strip?
well if you are doing it yourself do a brown or a black but if you are having it pro done you can have it done any color you want i did a strawberryblond so i had a little red left but not much and it came out cute
Go with permanent dark brown. It works really well.
With a hat!!!!!!!

Crazy as it sounds, try washing several times with a dandruff shampoo. It washes the color out very quickly, is not expensive, and it won't damage your hair.
Ash brown is your best bet. If you really can't find one, then a brown that is labelled 'cool' or 'neutral'. Make sure you avoid anything with 'warm' tones.

I used ash brown to cover red dye some time back and it really worked well.
