How long does red hair dye last (from experience)?

I recentely colored my hair deep red (almost purple) with blonde and brown highlights in my layers, how long might this last? Personal experience much appriciated! Thanks!How long does red hair dye last (from experience)?

I love to dye my hair red as well, but mine never last more than four weeks, by six weeks I need to redye it.


This is done professionally...I have even tried dying it myself, no luck though.

Red dye has the largest color molecule, and black has the smallest (and is THE most permanent of the permanent colors.) Red tends to wash out quickly, but how long it lasts depends on how where it was dyed (at home, or salon), how often you wash your hair, what kind of shampoo you use, and if you condition it really well.





Obviously, if you have really high quality products, that are designed for color treated hair, and you don't wash it all the time it should last a little longer. Usually colored hair is more porous, so you should be able to get away with washing it every other day.
