I just dyed my hair red but red is suppossed to fade the quickest. What are the best products I can use for it?
Also I've heard keeping it out of the sun and washing it with cold water helps if there are any other tips like these.Red hair dye?
As a fellow redhead, no matter what you do it will fade. I have used shampoo/conditioner for red hair....faded. I washed it only in cold water...faded. I have spent a lot of money at the salon on ';color keepers';. It does not matter what you do,it will fade. Now what does help is color depositing conditioners. I use them when the color gets too faded. Artec makes great ones. And they have a whole range of shades of red. I use ';red clover';. They are sold at beauty supply stores and some salons.Red hair dye?
Yes, intense reds will fade very fast. For some reason, it is one of the hardest to keep in. You know this if you have a red shirt and you wash it. Everything else gets pink too! But red is also the hardest to remove from your hair. It fades into an orange and then stays there.
What you need to do is be sure you follow the directions exactly and allow the colour to develop fully. That is, allow the maximum time for full colour penetration and development. Use a good shampoo afterwards. Some of them are too strong and will strip colour from your hair. A vinegar rinse (tablespoon in 8 oz water) will help too, but don't use every day. You should avoid shampooing your hair often -- each shampoo will remove colour. You don't need to do it every day!!
You will want to use a good conditioner, of course, and you should also use a UV inhibitor as well. You may have to look for it, but most companies make them. This is to protect your hair from sun damage. Of course, don't go out in the sun much... or wear a hat or something to cover your hair as often as you can.
If you take these precautions, you will keep your hair red for a longer time.
I used to dye my hair red also and it does fade fairly quickly.
A few tips are:
Use a shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair; better yet, one specifically for redheads.
Keep it away from the sun's UV rays as much as possible.
Using cool water in the shower helps.
Try to avoid heat styling as much as possible as this also causes hair color to fade.
well get some Color Vive shampoo and conditionar, it depends on what hair dye u used or if you got it done in the salon any why here you go:
-Clairol hair dye: Herbal Essence: Color Me Happy products
-Loreal hair dye: Loreal Color Vive products
-Garnier hair dye: Garnier Frutis Color Sheild products
Pantene for reds will work, Treseme for brunettes and reds (yes thats what it says on the bottle) works great. But i Would Use JOHN FRIEDA RADIANT RED
Do a white vinegar rinse. White vinegar locks in color- making it ';permanent';. Its what the people who tie-dye use. When I colored my hair red, it fded to orange in a week, whereas when I used a white vinegar rinse, it would last a month or more before turning orange.
theres a color earser they sell at the drugstores, removes all color dye and lightens it up for a new color =]
