My hair is not taking the red hair dye at the ends of my hair, How can fix this myself?

I have been a bleach blond most of my adult life, (naturally brunette) and for a couple months now have been trying to go medium auburn. I have used cheap, and expensive, over the counter hair dies and the result is the same.. my roots take the color perfectly, but the ends of my hair just wont take as good, the result I get is a dull ashy version of the color I'm using. I have always had such shiny hair, and now only my roots shine. should I purchase a red filler,a protein pack, a special shampoo and conditioner? If so whats the best to use? and for how long do I use the protein pack befor I try again? My hair is not taking the red hair dye at the ends of my hair, How can fix this myself?
Yes, I think a red filler will help you out a lot...but instead wasting all this money on purchases all these things, why don't you just go to a proffesional? Then at least you'll know that it'll be done right. My hair is not taking the red hair dye at the ends of my hair, How can fix this myself?
Im having the same problem.I called the clairol hot line and they said to get nice and easy 108 and only put in color (dont mix it with the developer. After that, use the 106A I think. Its a medium blonde color.Use this like regular color(mix it with the developer.)Your results will be reddish brown.I havent tried it yet.Go on their website and you can talk to someone to see what they say. Im wanting to go dark brown but I have to put red back in my hair first.
I would say yes on the hair re-conditioner so that the hair on the ends will take the color. But the ends are going to be more porous because of bleaching it. Try a more red color.
Bleach is really hard to take over especially if you've used it most of your adult life. dont push the color in, your hair can fall out! wait atleat 2-3 weeks then apply it again
